People across the globe are taking a break from tobacco and putting down their pipes in recognition of World No Tobacco Day. Or at least they're supposed to be ...
Quitting smoking (or using tobacco in other forms) can be really difficult for most people. It can seem daunting to start the quitting process and impossible to stick with it. World No Tobacco Day is great because it's a baby step toward that process - it's just one day you have to do without tobacco.
We know the smokers out there probably want to rip our heads off right now and we totally understand! But to help distract you, and to just plain old help you, here are some tips from the Chicago Tribune on how to quit smoking for good:
- Set a date
- Find an activity to keep you busy
- Invest your smoking money
- Wash your car
- Clean your house
- Talk to your doctor about alternative smoking methods
- Pitch your ashtrays
- Hang out in non-smoking places
- Avoid smoking locations
- Throw away your cigarettes
If you or someone you know smokes, consider taking a break just for the day. Want to send some encouraging words? Send our free Non Smoking Zone ecard or one of our other encouraging cards:
